India bowled out for 213 runs as young Sri Lankan bowlers shined

KATHMANDU: Sri Lankan young bowlers Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka shone, as India were bowled out for 213 runs. Sri Lanka has a 214-run aim in the Asia Cup Super Four.

After winning the toss at Sri Lanka’s R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, India batted first and scored 213 runs in 49.1 overs.

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, scored a half-century innings of 53 runs. Sharma and Shubman Gill shared a vital first-wicket partnership of 80 runs in 67 balls.

Gill scored 19 runs off 25 balls. Dunith bowled Sharma out for 53 runs. KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan shared a third-wicket stand of 63 runs off 89 balls.

Rahul scored 39 runs off 44 balls, while Kishan made 33 runs off 61 balls. India lost 3 wickets for 153 runs at one point and 7 wickets after adding 60 runs.

Dunith grabbed 5 wickets and scored 40 runs in 10 overs for Sri Lanka. Captain Sharma, opener Gill, previous captain Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya were all removed.

Charith Aslanka had four wickets for 18 runs in nine overs. Mahesh Thiksana had one wicket. Sri Lanka’s spinner took ten wickets.

In the first match, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh. Both teams hope to boost their playoff chances by winning their second game in a row.

Sri Lanka are unbeaten in their last 13 ODI matches.

The match between Sri Lanka and India, the world’s strongest team, is expected to be competitive and interesting.

India has won four of the last five matches, while Sri Lanka has won one. The Super Four consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India.
