KMC grants mourning leave following Ward Chair Rijal’s death

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has given mourning leave tomorrow.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16 Ward Chair Mukunda Rijal passed away at Grande Hospital on Thursday morning.

On his death, a mourning leave was given in the offices under the metropolitan on Friday, informed Nabin Manandhar, spokesperson of the metropolitan.

Ward Chair Rijal was taken to Grande Hospital on Bhadra 17 (Sept 3) due to health problems.

According to the medical director of the hospital, Dr. Vinod Vijukche, Rizal was admitted to the intensive care unit after severe pneumonia (viral pneumonia) was found in both lungs.

A statement issued by the hospital said that Rijal died at 7:30 am this morning during treatment. Rihal also had dengue.

He was elected twice as Chair of Congress Kathmandu Region No. 7 and Chair of Municipality Ward No. 16.

Rizal was born in 2027. He was in police custody during the 2046 public protests.

While studying in the Saraswati campus, he joined the New Union and entered politics. Rijal also worked in the Human Rights Association.
