Number of goats in Nepal exceeded 142 million

KATHMANDU: In the last 10 years, the number of farmers raising livestock has increased by 51,157.

According to the 7th National Agricultural Census 2078 presented by the National Statistics Office on Thursday, the number of farmer families raising livestock has reached 345,014.

According to the agricultural census 2068, this number was 33,53,857.

According to the agricultural census, the number of cattle in Nepal is 4.6 million, the number of buffaloes is about 29 million, the number of goats/male goats/sheep/chyangra is 142 million, and the number of pigs/boars is about 1.4 million.

The number of chickens has reached 451 million.

The office said that there has been a significant increase in the number of advanced cows and buffaloes.

Similarly, 10 thousand 375 farming families have cultivated flowers/nursery on nearly 598 hectares of land.

According to the agricultural census, 2078, 483,208 or 11.7 percent of the farming families have said that they have taken loans for agricultural purposes.

In the calculation of 2068, 835,921 i.e. 21.8 percent were farmers who took this type of loan.
