Nepal secures semifinal spot in World Cup qualifiers with fourth consecutive victory

KATHMANDU: The Nepali women’s cricket team has won the Asian qualifications for the T20 World Cup for the fourth time in a row.

Nepal reached the aim in 10.3 overs, chasing a target of 75 runs set by Qatar’s women’s squad.
Kajal Shrestha led Nepal with 32 runs, while Sita Rana Magar had 16 unbeaten runs and Indu Burma had 20 unbeaten runs. Earlier, Qatar batted first and scored 74 runs after losing seven wickets in 20 overs.
This is Nepal’s fourth victory in this tournament, and it has qualified for the semi-finals.
Previously, Nepal had defeated Bahrain, Bhutan, and Malaysia. Nepal now has 8 points from four games in Group A. Similarly, Qatar has lost all four of its matches so far.
This Asia selection, which will run until September 9, has attracted 12 countries. Nepal is assigned to Group A. Nepal, Bahrain, Bhutan, Malaysia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates are all members of Group A. Group B also includes China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Myanmar, and Thailand.
Nepal is now slated to play UAE in the tournament’s last group-stage match on Wednesday, Sept 6.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, and the two countries that reach the finals will be chosen to represent their countries in the World Cup.
