Why did Balen threaten to burn Singha Durbar?
He termed the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' as a thief and threatened to burn the Singha Durbar.
KATHMANDU: The topic of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah’s social media warning to set fire to Singha Durbar is being debated.
He termed the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as a thief and threatened to burn the Singha Durbar.
On Saturday night, he posted on Facebook, “Nothing happened today, if any vehicle of our metropolitan city is stopped by the government starting tomorrow, I will set fire to Singha Durbar.” ‘Recall the thief government.’
Balen’s rage stems from the fact that his wife’s car was pulled over by the police. The government car was halted by a team of Koteshwor traffic police on the day of the holiday after being driven at high speed.
Koteshwor traffic police stopped a white number plate vehicle coming from Balkumari towards Tinkune at 9 p.m. on Saturday night and requested for permission to drive a government vehicle on a holiday. It is believed that the vehicle left after 23 minutes after being informed that it belonged to Mayor Balen.
According to the traffic police, it was stopped during a routine check. Balen is believed to have vented his rage on social media following the event.
