KATHMANDU: The oldest Jewish temple in Egypt has reopened following restoration.
According to Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inaugurated the Ben Ezra Synagogue on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the synagogue named for Jewish philosopher Abraham Ben Ezra goes back to the 12th century and was renovated in 1880.
This temple was formerly a place of celebration, gathering, and prayer for Jews in Egypt.
This temple became a tourist attraction after most of the Jewish community left in the 1950s.
