KATHMANDU: England and Spain are competing for the title of champion in the ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup football event.

England qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup final for the first time after defeating Australia 3-1. With the victory, England advances to the championship match against Spain.
Spain had earlier defeated Sweden 2-1 to advance to the final. Both of these teams made it to the finals for the first time.
The Women’s World Cup will have a new winner this year. America, which has won the World Cup four times, was upset in the round of 16 by Sweden, while Germany, which has won the World Cup twice, was eliminated from the group stage.
Norway, which has won the World Cup once, was eliminated by Japan in the round of 16, while Japan was defeated by Sweden in the quarterfinals.
32 teams participated in the World Cup which started on July 20.
Since 1991, the prize money of the Women’s World Cup has been increased from almost 50 million dollars to 152 million dollars.
