KATHMANDU: Sunsari district administration has achieved great success in the hearing against meter interest.
The Sunsari administration settled the complaint against meter bagging with a claim of 46 million at the district administration office for 11 million.
The administration provided justice to the victim by ending the research and investigation into the complaint of Indra Moktan of Dharan, who approached the administration claiming to be a victim.
According to Moktan, the victim, he borrowed Rs 54 lakh as interest from Maniraj Rai of Dharan four years ago.
Moktan, who claimed to have been handed duplicate paperwork, also claimed to have filed a complaint against meter interest after claiming 46 million and having the cheque fail. Moktan stated that he filed a complaint with the Sunsari administration seeking justice in accordance with the government’s ordinance after producing a difficult situation owing to meter interest. After the government investigated his complaint, he expressed his satisfaction that he had got justice.
On the other hand, the Sunsari administration said that the complaint has been investigated and resolved. Chief District Officer Humkala Pandey said that based on the received documents and sufficient evidence, the complaint against meter theft has been investigated and resolved.
Pandey said that if sufficient evidence related to the complaint can be gathered, the victim will get justice easily. Pragya Pandey also informed that more than 500 complaints of meter usage have been received in the district and the investigation is in progress.
He said that more than 200 complaints are being investigated by the district administration office.
