Final hearing in Sandeep Lamichhane’s case today
The case against Lamichhane, who is accused of rape, has been scheduled for today's hearing in Kathmandu District Court.

KATHMANDU: The case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is being heard.
The case against Lamichhane, who is accused of rape, has been scheduled for today’s hearing in Kathmandu District Court.
If nothing changes at the final hearing, the Lamichhane case will be over today. The Supreme Court’s decision to release Sandeep was primarily motivated by the age dispute.
It was claimed that there was a disagreement about the teenager’s age and that there was no reason to keep the defendant in custody and try the case based on the physical examination of the teenager, the incident report, CCTV footage, text messages, Facebook messages, Snapchat messages, and so on.
Following the Supreme Court’s instruction that the matter be heard as soon as possible, the Kathmandu District Court has scheduled the final hearing for Shrawan 32 (Aig 17).
Sandeep, who was acquitted, will be able to participate in the Asia Cup after the trial, but if found guilty, he will be imprisoned.
Previously, the proceedings were halted when Lamichhane, who is facing rape charges, left for Zimbabwe to compete in World Cup qualifiers.
