Ambassador Nguyen’s commitment to initiate Nepal-Vietnam direct flights
KATHMANDU: Nguyen Thanh Hai, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nepal, mentioned the prospect of direct air flights between Nepal and Vietnam and offered to take the lead in this regard.
In a session honoring Ambassador Than Hai hosted by the Nepal-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, he stated that while there is a tremendous potential for cooperation between the two countries in the domains of trade, tourism, and investment, there is a connection problem.
“We are operating direct flights to various cities in India and it is still expanding,” said Nguyen Thanh Hai, the non-resident ambassador to Nepal.
Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai stated that a direct flight between Nepal’s Kathmandu and Lumbini is possible, adding that the flight will enhance collaboration in other industries, including tourism. He stated that tourists travelling from Nepal to third-world nations such as Australia and Europe will find it simple to transit through Vietnam.
Earlier, the unpaid Consul (Consul) for Vietnam, Rajeshkaji Shrestha, had requested to take the initiative for Lumbini-Vietnam direct flight to promote Nepal’s tourism. Shrestha requested Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai to facilitate trade as Vietnam can become a good market for Nepali coffee and handicrafts.
Consul Shrestha requested that the two countries exchange cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, cultural relations, and so on.
Deepak Malhotra, head of the Nepal-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, also suggested that the ambassador initiate direct flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport to target Buddhist pilgrims in Vietnam. He stated that the peoples of Nepal and Vietnam are culturally close and that the relationship should be strengthened through more connectedness.
The vice president of the association, Sureshman Shrestha, expressed the opinion that the expansion of bilateral trade, tourism, agriculture, religious tourism and other relations will also expand the relations between the people. He says that Nepal can benefit by joining hands with Vietnam in the agricultural sector and bringing Buddhists to the birthplace of Buddha.
