KATHMANDU: Spain has entered the final for the first time after defeating Sweden in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Spain, which did not compete in the first six editions, was eliminated from the group stage in the seventh edition and from the pre-quarterfinals in the most recent edition.

Spain won 1-1 thanks to goals from Salma Paralluelo and Olga Carmona. Blomqvist scored one goal for Sweden.

Spain will now face the winner of the second semi-final on Wednesday for the trophy. In the second semi-final, England will face co-host Australia.
