KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a person who used obscene language on Facebook and other social networks.
The police arrested Ramesh Bantawa Rai from his house in Dharan-5 Deurali on Sunday night.
DSP Rajkumar Rai of the District Police Office Sunsari stated that Bantawa was detained for cybercrime after using vulgar language against Parbat Rai and businessman Ramesh Thapa of Dharan-7.
According to the letter from District Police Office Sunsari, DSP Nawaraj Malla of District Police Office Dharan verified the arrest of Rai.
Rai verbally insulted Parbat Rai, a member of Dharan’s Chhoti Morang Land Victims Sangharsh Committee, and Thapa, a businessman, when news of the press conference was published, and both filed a complaint with the District Police Office.
According to the police, a cybercrime case has been filed against the arrested Rai. He is an advocate for Mayor Harka Sampang.
Mayor Sampang has requested the police administration not to cause unnecessary suffering to the citizens.
Following the arrest of Ramesh Bantawa Rai, he said through social media, ‘My suggestion to the police administration is to immediately release Ramesh Rai and stand in favor of the people! The police do not come under the influence of the mafia! The state should not make the citizens suffer in!’
