KATHMANDU: Dhanraj Gurung, Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, has stated that the state will not shirk its obligation at any time.

He mentioned this on Wednesday during a program in Kathmandu commemorating the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

He stated that the Tribal Commission should develop action plans and that the government will endeavour to see that these are carried out.

He stated that the current administration will go to any length to fulfill the responsibilities of the state. He stated that the government will collaborate with tribal people to develop and execute legislation protecting tribal people’s rights and interests.

He said, ‘The Indigenous Peoples Commission will have the full support of the government in terms of developing its work directions in a special way, making action plans and implementing them. In the coming days, on behalf of the government of Nepal, we and you all will sit together and discuss the work to be done in the future regarding the tribal tribes. Rather than distinguishing who does and who does not, we all stand together. We want to move forward together. The state can never shirk its responsibility to fulfill its full role for the indigenous peoples within its state. The current government will not retreat from that place.’

Minister Gurung said that diverse cultures and languages in the country have made the tribals a beautiful flower garden and they should be able to preserve it.
