Police officer beaten up in Kanchanpur
He was beaten up by locals after he take down a group of youths to the road and examined their motorcycles.

KATHMANDU: A Sudurpaschim State Investigation Group (RIT) officer from the Sudurpaschim State Police has been beaten up.
Ranjit Saund, a police constable serving in the RIT in Kanchanpur’s Punarbas Municipality-11 Tauke Bazar, was beaten up by locals after he take down a group of youths to the road and examined their motorcycles.
According to locals, they were compelled to take action after Saund was discovered consuming alcohol and asking for a license and blue book while checking the motorcycle in plain clothes.
Tulsi Aryal, Punarbas Municipality-11 ward president, said he arrived at the scene on Monday after learning that police constable Saund had caused difficulties while checking the car.
However, by the time Aryal arrived, a gang of villagers had beaten him up and the policeman had escaped, he claimed. He was brought from Baitadi and kept at RIT, according to sources.
District Police Office Kanchanpur Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamal Thapa claimed that there was no reporting about the incident. RIT sources said that after the incident, Saund was again transferred to Baitadi.
