KATHMANDU: Australia has advanced to the quarter-finals of the current Women’s World Cup.

Australia won easily over Denmark in the pre-quarterfinal match in Sydney on Monday.

Australia advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Denmark 2-0. Australia won thanks to goals from Caitlin Foord and Hayley Raso.

Caitlin Foord scored in the 29th minute of the first half to give Australia a 1-0 lead. Hayley Raso scored in the 71st minute to give Australia a comfortable victory.

After an eight-year absence, Australia has made it to the World Cup quarterfinals. Australia advanced to the quarter-finals of the seventh edition, which was held in Canada.

Australia failed not go beyond the final 16 at the most recent edition, held in France in 2019.

Australia will play the winner of France and Morocco in the quarter-finals on August 12. France and Morocco are competing on Tuesday.
