England enters quarterfinals, beats Nigeria in penalty shootout

KATHMANDU: England has advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is currently taking place in Australia and New Zealand.

England advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Nigeria in the match that ended on Monday.

The game concluded in a goalless tie after 90 minutes of regular time and 30 minutes of extra time.

After England’s Lauren James was sent off in the 87th minute, the team was reduced to ten players.

With this win, England advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of the match between Colombia and Jamaica.
