BAGLUNG: Students can seee Nepali films for free at BSR Movies in Baglung Bazar.

Since Shrawan 15 (July 31), two free Nepali movies have been exhibited every day for students in Baglung Bazar’s private and community schools, according to Sreejesh Gajurel, manager of BSR Movies.

Currently, the Nepali movie Bagan, based on social stories, is being screened at BSR Movies for free at a pace of 400 students every day.

Recently, the trend of students going to the theaters to view movies is fading, and as the business of the movies is diminishing, BSR has arranged for the students to watch them for free in order to improve the attraction of the movies.

This opportunity will be available until Shrawan 26 (Aug 11). According to Gajurel, the manager of Movies, free movies are now screened to students in grades 5 through 12.

He also stated that they have begun a campaign to improve the community’s opinion of the movie industry and movie theaters.

“In our society, there is still a tendency to look at movies from a negative perspective, in order to understand this, we keep all students together and watch movies under the direct supervision of teachers,” Gajurel said, “Students also get to know new things by watching social movies. It makes the positive aspects better than the negative ones.”

He stated that as most movies have a message in addition to amusement, they play a role in social transformation through students.

So far, more than 2000 students of 13 schools in the Baglung bazar area have watched free movies at BSR Movies.

Gajurel said that after the offer to watch movies for free, which used to pay 150 to 300 rupees earlier, there is a large presence of students in cinema halls.
