Nabina’s death due to ‘unintended abortion’ 2.7 million compensation to the family

KATHMANDU: The family of a woman who died while receiving treatment at Chitwan’s Manakamana Hospital has been compensated.
The body of the deceased was picked up by the family after the hospital paid a compensation of Rs. 27 lakh 50 thousand.
Nabina Mahato, 35, of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality’s Ward No. 26, died on Friday night during treatment.
According to the deceased’s husband, Manikalal Mahato, she was brought to the hospital last Thursday for an unplanned abortion. She died at 1 a.m. Friday night as a result of heavy bleeding, according to the hospital.
The relatives of the deceased argued that the hospital should assume responsibility for the mistake.
Following the arrangement, the hospital handed over a cheque for Rs. 27 lakh 50 thousand on Saturday.
According to a hospital doctor who took part in the negotiations, the family picked up the body following the agreement.
Since Nabina’s death this morning, relatives of the deceased have encircled the hospital.
The uterus was medically removed after severe bleeding, but it could not be salvaged.
The hospital provided the funds when the family requested funds for their five-year-old daughter’s education.
