Hebei province has seen the greatest rainfall in 140 years in the last several days, disrupting people’s livelihoods.

According to Xinhua, around 1,000 rescue teams are presently operating in the flood-ravaged city of Hebei Province in northern China.

The situation in the eastern portion of the city has mainly improved, while rescue activities are underway in the western areas of the city.

The average rainfall in Zhuozhou from 8 a.m. on Saturday to 11 a.m. on Tuesday was 355.1 mm, according to municipal officials.

The storm dumped 744.8 mm of rain on the area near Changping’s Wangjiayuan Reservoir, according to the Beijing Meteorological Department. 609 mm of rain fell in 1891.

Since Saturday, severe rains have affected 130 million Chinese in the Chinese capital and adjacent areas, displacing 974,400 residents in Beijing and neighboring Hebei province.
