KATHMANDU: Nepal will face Laos in the first round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Nepal’s opponent has been determined through a draw held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Nepal will face Laos twice, once at home and once away.

The first leg will take place on Oct 12 and the second leg on Oct 17.

In the first round, 20 Asian teams seeded 27 to 46 will compete at home and away. The top ten teams will advance to the next round.

In the second stage, 36 teams placed 1 to 26 will be grouped into 9 groups and determined by home and away.

In the third stage, the 18 teams from the second stage will be grouped into three groups and will compete in a home-and-away.

The top two teams from each of the three groups will advance to the World Cup. The third and fourth-placed teams will also have a chance to qualify.
