KATHMANDU: In a significant breakthrough, the police have arrested 22-year-old Mohan Bhandari, a resident of Surkhet Birendranagar Municipality-7, who had been on the run since the date of the incident in connection with an extortion case and a separate rape case investigation.

On Wednesday, a dedicated team of officers deployed from the District Police Complex Kathmandu successfully apprehended the fugitive after months of relentless pursuit. Bhandari was found hiding in Baneshwor, Kathmandu, and was taken into custody without incident.

Bhandari’s arrest comes as a major development in both cases, where he had evaded authorities for an extended period.

The extortion case involves allegations of unlawful demands for money and intimidation, while the rape case investigation has been ongoing with Bhandari as a prime suspect.
