Colombia win, Switzerland draw

KATHMANDU: Colombia beat South Korea in the Women’s World Cup.

Colombia won 2-0 against South Korea on Tuesday.

Catalina Usme converted a penalty in the 30th minute to give Colombia an early lead.

Linda Caicedo, a young South American player, scored in the 39th minute to increase the South American team’s advantage.

Colombia and Germany are tied on three points in Group F. South Korea and Morocco have no points.

Switzerland drew with previous champions Norway in the following Group A match, splitting the points. With a draw, the Swiss squad climbed to the top of the league.

After the co-host New Zealand team unexpectedly lost to the Philippines, Switzerland has strengthened the possibility of entering the previous round.
