Great comeback win for Sweden

KATHMANDU: Sweden, which is considered a title contender, defeated South Africa 2-1 on Sunday in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

Sweden, placed third in the competition, overcame a one-goal disadvantage.

Hildah Magaia’s goal in the 48th minute gave South Africa the lead. Sweden tied the game in the 65th minute when Fridolina Rolfo scored.

When the game was on the verge of a draw, Amanda Ilestedt scored the game-winning goal for Sweden in the 90th minute, capping off the team’s comeback triumph.

Sweden has grabbed an early lead in Group ‘G’ with its victory.
