Following an upsurge in dengue cases, ministry urged for caution

KATHMANDU: Dengue fever cases are on the rise in Nepal. Dengue fever has been verified in over 2,000 patients in the previous two weeks alone.
According to statistics issued two weeks ago on Monday by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Ashar 25 (July 10), 1,192 cases have been detected since January, and almost two thousand patients have been added from Ashar 25 (July 10) to Shrawan 5 (July 21).
According to the department, there are more patients who have not had interaction with medical facilities.
The majority of patients have been added to Sunsari in the previous two weeks. According to reports, more than 100 patients began visiting hospital Sunsari on a regular basis.
As the number of patients grew, the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan established a separate fever clinic. According to the division’s records, more over three thousand infected people have been added to Nepal since Poush.
There have been 1,571 confirmed dengue cases in Sunsari, 258 in Dhading, 188 in Darchula, 149 in Kaski, and 58 in Sankhuwasabha.
Similarly, dengue has infected 46 persons in Kathmandu, 39 in Kanchanpur, 35 in Bhaktapur, 35 in Myagdi, and 32 in Jhapa.
As the number of dengue-infected patients grows by the day, the government has asked for increased health monitoring.
