KATHMANDU: Sobita Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was named ‘Best Young Politician’.
Gautam won the ‘Young World Politician of the Year’ award alongside four other young politicians from around the world.
According to the organizers, the honor was shared by Nepal’s young MP Gautam, Canada’s Arielle Kayabaga, Australia’s Ayor Makur Chuot, New Zealand’s Moko Tepania, and Belgium’s Samuel Cogolati.
One Young World is a British organization dedicated to the empowerment and development of young leaders.
Along with Sovita, the shortlist for the prize includes 15 MPs, mayors, and others from several nations. Five persons on the shortlist have received honors from the organization. Sobita Gautam, the youngest Member of Nepal’s Parliament and a founding member of RSP, was named to the shortlist.
The organization identified leader Gautam as an emerging figure in politics with his speech being highly liked on social media.
Every year, the organization bestows such honors on notable politicians between the ages of 18 and 35.
