Sandeep Lamichhane leaves for Canada to play Global T20 cricket

KATHMANDU: Sandeep Lamichhane, the Nepali national team’s leg spinner, has departed for Canada.

Sandeep, who joined Surrey Jaguars for the Global T20, left for Canada on Tuesday, according to his lawyer, Saroj Krishna Ghimire.

Sandeep’s journey to Canada has been planned as the case’s final hearing will be place in a month.

The rape case against Sandeep has been scheduled for Shrawan 32 (Aug 17). Sandeep appeared in Kathmandu’s district court on Friday. The appearance has been set by the court without compromising his playing schedule.

Following his return from Canada, he will face a final hearing. Sandeep notified the court that he will be in Canada from Shrawan 1 (July 17) to Shrawan 32 (Aug 17). The court has set the last hearing in his case for Shrawan 32 (Aug 17).

The third edition of the Global T20 will take place from July 21 to Aug 6. Six teams will compete.

The top four clubs will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs will take place from August 4 to 6.

This tournament will now be held after 2018/2019.
