KATHMANDU: Kiran Chemjong, captain of Nepal’s national team, has extended his contract with Indian side Punjab FC.
He agreed to a new one-year deal with Punjab.
Last season, Punjab got promoted to the Indian Super League (ISL).
Chemjong’s new contract will keep him with the club until at least the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
Chemjong, 33, was instrumental in helping Punjab win the I-League title last season.
During the 2020-21 I League season, he earned the Golden Gloves Award. Chemjong earned his second I-League title and another Golden Gloves medal during his second season in Punjab.
He will be the second Nepali player to play in the Indian Super League, following Ananta Tamang.
