Locals stopped the tipper on its way to Sisdol & Banchare Danda
Locals have halted the vehicle transporting waste to the Banchare Danda dump site.
KATHMANDU: Dumping of garbage in Kathmandu Valley has been stopped in Sisdol and Banchare Danda.
People’s representatives of Kakani Rural Municipality, Dhunibensi Municipality and local people stopped the tipper carrying garbage from Kathmandu on the way.
The government and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City have not executed the agreement and have been obstructing rubbish disposal since the morning.
Locals have halted the vehicle transporting waste to the Banchare Danda dump site.
Locals have also stated that they will not allow rubbish disposal unless their demands are granted.
Locals claim that they have been continually duped under the name of consent.
According to Balkrishna Acharya, mayor of Dhunibensi, waste was halted since their requests were not heard.
