KATHMANDU: Seshraj Bhattarai has been elected the new President of the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN).

In the election held on Saturday, Bhattarai received 238 votes to beat his nearest rival Bishnuhari Pandey, who won 146 votes.

A total of 419 voters took part in the election which was held through the electronic voting system.

Landrew Poudel (Lakshman), Bhuvan Bahadur Chhetri, Geeta Siwakoti (Gitanjali) have been elected vice-chairs and Deepak Bhusal as the general secretary, Bhavanath Humagain and Ratna Bahadur Bhattarai as secretary and Ashish Karki as treasurer of the new working committee.

The ECAN is an active association of professionals keeping abreast of knowledge on every detail in abroad study and subsequent student counselling.

It is endorsed equivocally by educationalists in the country and given instant recognition by overseas education providers, as stated in the official website of the association.
