KATHMANDU: Service tariffs for television channels must be submitted.

The Information Department has directed international free television channel broadcasters and Nepalese official signal distributors to publish information on the book’s pricing and rate based on the Aala Cart price system by yesterday.

According to the notice issued by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on the 24th of Chaitra, 2071 (7 April, 2015), even if the consumer must pay a maximum of 500 rupees per month for television broadcasting and the fee set by the Telecommunications Act, 2053 for internet service, the combined fee should not exceed the current combined fee.

According to that arrangement, the department corresponded to determine whether or not the rates of international broadcasters corresponded, or if the rates established by the Nepalese government corresponded to the rates of broadcasters.

The department, in a letter dated the 17th of Baisakh (April 30), asked all service providers to furnish tariffs in accordance with the Aala Cart.

However, once the service provider failed to follow that advice, the government issued a second warning.

The department has requested that all service providers cooperate with the necessary parties and report the tariffs per channel by Ashar 28 (July 13).

In addition, the department has demanded that the special cart system be completely implemented by Shrawan 1 (July 17).

The department has also requested that a copy of the mutual agreement between the Nepalese official signal distributor and the foreign free television channel broadcasting organization be made available to the ministry and the department, as well as a copy of the mutual agreement between the Nepali official signal distributor and the domestic operators.

The department said that if the information is not provided within the specified time period, legal action will be taken.
