Artist-YouTuber held in ‘1xBet’ asked to be imprisoned for a year and fined, investigation ended

KATHMANDU: The investigation report against the artist and YouTuber who were detained for advertising 1xBet has been filed to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kathmandu by the police.

The investigation report was presented by the District Police Complex Kathmandu on Wednesday, according to SP Sitaram Rizal.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended eight people on Jestha 31 (June 14), including comedians and YouTubers.

Among those arrested are 35-year-old comedian ‘Balchi Dhrube’ Marichman Shrestha, a resident of Gorkha and currently living in Banasthali, 28-year-old ‘Myakuri’ Pawan Khatiwada, a resident of Dhankuta and currently living in Bhaktapur, ‘Raju Master’ Raju Paudel, resident of Pokhara and currently living in Naya Bazar and resident of Pokhara, and a YouTuber Alish Rai of Udayapur and currently living in Tikathali, Lalitpur.

A 24-year-old YouTuber Zalan Gharti Magar ‘Zalan’ of Rolpa and currently living in Kirtipur, YouTuber Ganesh Devkota (GD) of Mugu and currently living in Tikathali, 25-year-old Saroj Ghimire (Dhedu Budho) of Morang and currently living in Bhaktapur Thimi and Bhatbhate Maila ‘Begam’ of Pyutham and currently living in Kalanki were arrested by the police.

The police arrested another YouTuber Rajkumar Tamang on Ashar 9 (Jue 24).

The police have demanded that they be punished in accordance with Section 125 of the Civil Code. They sought a year in jail and a fine for the offence of not gambling or betting.

The Kathmandu Public Prosecutor’s Office will now review the investigative report before filing the case in the Kathmandu District Court. Following that, an order will be issued to keep them in or out of custody.
