SAFF: Nepal wins fair-play award

KATHMANDU: Nepal has received the ‘Fair Play’ award in SAFF Championship football.

Nepal received the SAFF Championship’s Fair Play Award during the closing ceremony.

Referee Prajwal Chhetri of Nepal, who competed in SAFF, received the prize. Nepal, the tournament’s former runner-up, was eliminated in the group round.

Nepal was defeated 3-1 by Kuwait and 2-0 by India in the group stage. Nepal beat Pakistan 1-0 in the last group-stage game.

India won the SAFF Championship by defeating the invited team Kuwait in a penalty shootout. After the regular and extra time matches ended in a draw, the decision was made in a penalty shootout.
