9 people held in Lalita Niwas land scandal allowed to be detained for 7 more days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted the police permission to keep the nine people arrested in the Lalita Niwas land controversy in Baluwatar for another seven days.

On Tuesday, the district court extended the deadline for keeping him in detention for another seven days for investigation.

The police have detained nine persons and are investigating the matter since Ashar 12 (Jue 27).

On Ashar 12 (Jue 27), the police arrested Bhavteni Supermarket owner Meen Bahadur Gurung, Land revenue office’s former employee Dharmanath Gautam, former Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah and Land revenue office’s former employee Gopal Karki on the charge of being involved in the crime of transferring government land to private individuals.

The police then arrested Shivaji Bhattarai, a Kathmandu Metropolitan magistrate, a fake Mohi Baburaja Maharjan, and Napi employee Ghaman Kumar Karki on Sunday.

On Monday, Ramesh Kumar Pokharel and Devnarayan Maharjan were detained.

Previously, on June 13th, the court granted authority to retain the 13th in detention for 7 days.
