KATHMANDU: Nepal has won the title of ACC U-16 East Zone Cup.

Nepal won the title by defeating Malaysia by 221 runs in a match played at Malaysia’s Biomass Oval cricket field.

Malaysia scored just 31 runs in 14.4 overs while chasing Nepal’s target of 253 runs, and Nepal won by a margin of 221 runs.

While destroying Malaysia’s batting line, Nepali bowler Abhishek Tiwari grabbed the most wickets with 5, Santosh Yadav took three, while Sagar Gayre and Ashok Dhami each took one.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Nepal batted first and achieved 252 runs in 35 overs, losing 8 wickets.

For Nepal, Naren Bhatta scored an undefeated century of 112 runs. Narine struck 10 fours and two sixes to score 112 runs off 89 balls.

Niraj Kumar Yadav scored 47 runs, Santosh Yadav scored 26 runs, Suryanshu Koirala scored 18 runs, Ashok Dhami scored 11 runs. Malaysian baller Mohammad Akram took the most 3 wickets, while Haziq Haiqal, Areean Aqeel and Muhammad Fathul Muin took one wicket each.

Nepal has won the title of this tournament and scored a hat-trick.

Nepal previously won this title by defeating Singapore and Malaysia in the finals of the tournament held in 2017 and 2019.
