KATHMANDU: Muslims celebrate Bakra Eid (Eid-ul-Adha) today.

Bakr Eid, also known as Eid al-Fitr, is the second most important feast after Ramadan.

During this event, which takes place on the 70th day of Ramadan, wealthy individuals go to Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia to undertake Hajj. To honor Allah, Muslims offer Qurbani (sacrifice) to animals declared permissible by Islam during this holiday.

According to religious belief, at the age of 90, Allah’s Navi (Messenger) Ibrahim Ali Salam obeyed the instruction to sacrifice his son Ismail, the child he got from his wife Hazara. It was discovered that Allah was delighted with Ismail’s sacrifice, but not with Ismail’s offering, but with the religious belief that it was Dumba’s sacrifice who was raised in paradise (Jananta).

On this day, the Muslims visit the nearest mosque after a morning bath and attend a mass prayer to read the Namaj.

After completing the reading of the Namaj, they exchange greetings by hugging one another.

On the occasion, there will be a crowd of Islam religious people in mosques across the country, including the Nepali Jame Masjid (mosque) in Durbar Marga, Kathmandu and Kashmiri Masjid. The festival will be observed up to coming Saturday.
