Bangladesh advanced to semi-finals beating Bhutan

KATHMANDU: Bangladesh has qualified for the semi-finals of the current SAFF Championship football tournament in India.

Bangladesh reached the SAFF semi-finals for the first time in 14 years. Bangladesh has previously reached the semi-finals in 2009.
Bangladesh defeated Bhutan after coming back from a one-goal deficit.
Bhutan took an early lead thanks to Tshering Dorjee’s goal in the 12th minute.
However, in the 21st minute of the game, Shekh Morsalin scored to tie the game at 1-1.
Jigmi scored an own goal in the 30th minute of the game, giving Bangladesh a 2-1 lead.
Then, in the 36th minute, Rakib Hossain scored to secure Bangladesh a 3-1 win.
With the win, Bangladesh has added 6 points in 3 matches.
Bangladesh finished second in Group B’ and advanced to the semi-finals.
Bangladesh will now face Kuwait in the semi-finals.
Bhutan and the Maldives have been knocked out of the group round.
