KATHMANDU: The police plan to prosecute the four persons detained in the Lalita Niwas land case with falsifying official documents.
The police Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) conducted a news conference on Wednesday and provided this information.
According to AIG Kiran Bajracharya, there is no time restriction in the Civil Act 2020 for the execution of government papers, and the matter would be pursued appropriately.
Three of the seven suspects detained by the CIB on Tuesday were freed. They filed a writ in the Supreme Court while the matter was ongoing in the special court, claiming that they would be prosecuted for providing official papers.
While hearing the writ in Shrawan 2079, the Supreme Court decided that they not be arrested because the Criminal Code 2074 specified that ‘complaints will not be made beyond 2 years from the date of knowledge of the falsification of public papers’.
Three persons were released as a result of that order.
Similarly, the other four persons have been prepared to be dragged to court today in order to prolong the deadline.
