India-Kuwait held draw, Kuwait group winner

KATHMANDU: In the 14th edition of the SAFF Championship football, former winners India and the invited team Kuwait have scored points by playing a draw.

On Tuesday, hosts India and Kuwait drew 1-1 at Bangalore’s Sri Kanti Rao Stadium.

India gained an early lead in the tough game.

Sunil Chhetri scored in first-half injury time to give India an early lead.

However, the game finished in a 1-1 stalemate as Anwar Ali of India scored a suicide goal in injury time.

Similarly, at the end of the game, both sides were limited to 10 players.

Ahmed Alkalf of Kuwait and Rahim Ali of India were both sent off in the 90th minute after a dispute with opposing players.

Similarly, India’s head coach Igor Stimac also received a red card.

With this tie, Kuwait has advanced to the semi-finals by finishing first in Group A.

India finished second in the group and advanced to the final four.

Kuwait scored seven points in three games. India has also scored seven points in three games. Kuwait, on the other hand, was ahead of India on goal difference.

Nepal and Pakistan were eliminated from this group in the group stage.
