KATHMANDU: A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), together with the police, is heading to the temple to look into the scandal surrounding the corruption of the gold fountain stored at the Pashupatinath temple.

Following word of the CIAA team’s arrival at the temple, all four doors of the Pashupatinath shrine were closed.

All devotees who went to the Pashupatinath temple for worship and devotion before the authority team departed were also hauled away.

A controversy erupted after the Auditor General’s report revealed that 10 kg 976 grams of gold were not accounted for when the Jalhari was housed in Pashupatinath.

During the tenure of then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, a golden Jalhari was installed to entirely surround the sanctum sanctorum of Shivlinga at Pashupatinath.

However, when it was said that 107 kg 924.74 grams of gold were utilized in that case, it was stated that the account of 10 kilograms of gold was not located.

The authority’s team is expected to arrive at the temple around 4 p.m.
