DOLAKHA: Jiri of Dolakha is renowned as the “Switzerland of the East.”

Jiri, roughly 200 kilometres from the city, appears to be much different.

There are Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, and Dolakha art cultures, costumes and local dishes from Kathmandu. Jiri also has a lot of interesting locations to explore.

This location is ideal for getting away from the monotony of daily living and the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by hills and magnificent scenery, the location has a Swiss feel about it.

The Jiri landscape is well-known for attracting numerous nature lovers and photographers. It is covered in green grass, bushes, and trees, which add to the natural beauty of the area.

This path was used by all of the early Everest expeditions, including Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. As a result, Jiri is also known as the “Gateway to Mount Everest.” Jiri has a culturally diverse population of Jirel, Sherpa, and Tamang.

Nearby attractions include Panch Pokhari, Hanumante Danda, Gurans Danda, Buddha Park, Stone Park, Rambole Mahadev, Jireshwor Temple, Toni Hagen Ecological Park, and Cheese Factory.

Leela Ram Khadka, who is known as Jiri’s tourism activist, says, ‘Nowadays Jiri is not mentioned in anyone’s mouth as a good tourism area near the capital. Jiri, known as the first gateway to Everest, is now deserted. In order to solve this, it is necessary to pay attention to the central government along with the local government.

Jiri’s hotels used to be packed throughout the summer, but that has now decreased to a trickle.

Visitors to Jiri frequently come here to enjoy the wind and water.

Domestic visitors from various areas flock here throughout the summer to escape the heat. Jiri Cheese and Churpi are also prominent dishes in this region. It’s unusual to come here and not get potatoes, churpi, or cheese.
