KATHMANDU: Nepal and the Netherlands will square off in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The game will begin at 12:45 p.m. Nepali time at Takasinga Sports Club in Zimbabwe.

Nepal is in a must-win game to advance to the Super Six in the Qualifiers. After two defeats in the previous three matches, Nepal’s chances of reaching the Super Six remain.

After that, Nepal’s Super Six trip would come to an end with the encounter between the Netherlands and the West Indies on Monday.

Similarly, if the Netherlands win this game, they will be chosen for the Super Six, while Nepal would be eliminated. The Netherlands has won one and lost one of the two matches they have played.

Nepal and the Netherlands have played two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) thus far. Nepal’s first One-Day International (ODI) match was against the Netherlands. After being granted ODI status, Nepal played their maiden match against the Netherlands on August 1, 2018, which the Netherlands won. Nepal won the second game of the series.

The 10 countries that will play the World Cup qualifiers have been divided into two groups. Group A includes Nepal, West Indies, Zimbabwe, America and the Netherlands while Group B includes Ireland, Sri Lanka, UAE, Scotland and Oman.

The top three clubs in each group will advance to the Super Six. They will face three clubs from another group in the Super Six. You do not have to play against the team from your group because the points from the group stage are also tallied in the Super Six. In the end, only the top two teams will qualify for the World Cup.

The tournament will be held in Zimbabwe from Ashar 3 to 24 (June 18 to July 9).
