KATHMANDU: In the ICC One-Day International World Cup Qualifiers, Sri Lanka handily defeated Oman.

Sri Lanka triumphed by ten wickets at the Queen’s Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital.

Sri Lanka reached Oman’s target of 99 runs in 15 overs without losing a wicket.

Dimuth Karunaratne scored an undefeated half-century of 61 runs off 51 balls, including eight fours, in Sri Lanka’s triumph. Pathum Nissanka, another opener, scored an undefeated 37 runs off 39 balls, including 5 fours.

No one could take a wicket when Oman used 5 bowlers.

Before that, Oman, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 98 runs in 2 overs for 30 runs.

Oman’s Ayan Khan scored 41 runs off 60 balls, including four fours. Hasaranga dismissed Ayan Wanindu. The Sri Lankan bowlers did not allow any Omani players to form a partnership.

For the fifth wicket, Ayan Khan and Jatinder Singh put on a good partnership of 52 runs off 64 balls. Wanindu Hasranga broke the partnership when he bowled Singh for 21 off 43 balls.

Fayyaz Butt scored 13 runs off 28 balls.

Other than Fayyaz Butt, Ayan Khan, and Jatinder Singh, no Oman players scored in double figures.

Wanindu Hasaranga took 5 wickets and Lahiru Kumara took 3 wickets for Sri Lanka. Kasun Ranjitha took 1 wicket to his name.

Sri Lanka won their second game in a row, moving up to first place with four points. With the win, Sri Lanka’s chances of entering the Super Six are almost certain.

Oman has plummeted to second position after suffering their first defeat in the third game. Despite the setback, Oman has a good chance of making the Super Six.
