KATHMANDU: Lebanon’s invited squad is off to a winning start in the ongoing SAFF Championship football tournament in India.
Lebanon got off to a winning start on Thursday, defeating Bangladesh 2-0 at the Sri Kanti Rao Stadium in Bangalore.
Lebanon won thanks to goals from captain Hassan Maatouk and Khalil Bader. Lebanon took an early lead thanks to Hasan’s goal in the 80th minute.
Then, in the last seconds of the game, Khalil scored to give Lebanon a 2-0 victory.
With the win, Lebanon has added 3 points in the first game.
Lebanon is in the top position in Group B.
8 nations are participating in this edition of SAFF.
Along with Nepal, hosts India, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Lebanon, Bhutan, Pakistan, Maldives will participate in this edition of the championship.
Kuwait and Lebanon are the invited teams in this edition.
