Closed Udayapur Cement Industry resumes

KATHMANDU: The Udayapur Cement Industry, entirely owned by the Government of Nepal, has begun operations in Triyuga Municipality-5 Jaljale in Udayapur District as of Wednesday.

The cement industry, which had been shuttered owing to a scarcity of raw materials, including coal, and a conflict between management and the employees, started operations on Wednesday, according to Keshav Kumar Basnet, head of the Industry Management Committee.

Chair Basnet said that the industry has been operational from 7 am on Wednesday and now regular production and marketing will continue.

Chair Basnet also said that the industry was closed for two months and suffered a loss of more than 200 million rupees.
