International plane set to land in Pokhara today for the first time

According to airport information officer Bishnu Adhikari, Sichuan Airlines' Airbus A-319 will arrive at Pokhara International Airport around 9:30 a.m.

KATHMANDU: Pokhara International Airport will have international flights for the first time today. Sichuan Airlines will operate a direct charter route from China’s Chengdu Tianfu Airport to Pokhara.

According to airport information officer Bishnu Adhikari, Sichuan Airlines’ Airbus A-319 will arrive at Pokhara International Airport around 9:30 a.m. “All flight preparations have been completed, and a brief program to welcome the passengers has been arranged,” he stated.

Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati along with the program has been scheduled to welcome passengers from the first international flight to Pokhara.

The Nepali team including National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, who is currently on a visit to China, and Chinese athletes and tourists who will participate in the ‘Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Vote Festival’ to be held at Phewatal in Pokhara next Friday and Saturday are coming to Pokhara from the ship.

The information officer of the airport said that 135 passengers will get off at Pokhara from the ship.

The plane will land in Kathmandu today from Pokhara and return via a regular flight.

The airport said that no information has been received about the next flight of the said plane in Pokhara.

After the English New Year, Pokhara International Airport was put into operation on Poush 17 (Jan 1). Currently, only domestic flights are taking place from this airport.
