POKHARA: An international flight will land in Pokhara for the first time on Wednesday. Sichuan Airlines is expected to land at Pokhara International Airport from Chengdu, China.

The plane will arrive in Pokhara around 9:25 p.m. and remain for one hour. It will fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu, then back to China.

Sichuan is ready to charter Narrowbody 319 to transport its athletes to the Nepal-China Dragon Boat Race Festival, which begins Thursday in Pokhara.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has granted Sichuan clearance to fly.

High-ranking officials and Chinese athletes, including National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, who travelled to Sichuan from Nepal, are expected to visit Pokhara. The plane will carry 130 people.

The airport, which Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda opened on Jan 1, 2023, has not yet been equipped to handle international aircraft. Even though the rented plane will arrive, the normal flight is still in disarray.
