Hewa Khola flood sweeps away 7 houses, 17 laborers missing

KATHMANDU: Seven houses were swept away by the flood that occurred last night in Hewa Khola of Sankhuwasabha.

According to the District Police Office, seven houses along the bank of Hewa Khola were swept away by the flood that came with the incessant rain.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Godar informed that 17 laborers working at Super Hewa Khola Hydropower have lost contact due to the flood that came with the rain.

According to the police, the body of a laborer working in Upper Hewakhola Hydropower, which was swept away by the flood, was found on the bank of the Panchkhapan Municipality-5 river. According to Police Chief Godar, the body is yet to be identified. The Super Hewa Hydro under construction at Chainpur-4 has been completely damaged by the flood. The flood has damaged the motorable bridge under construction connecting Panchkhapan and Chainpur.

Chief District Officer Shivkumar Karki, a team of the head of the security agency has reached the spot to get information about the incident. Area Police Office Chainpur and a team of armed police have been deployed at the scene.
