5 people reported missing in Panchthar due to devastating flood, mechi highway blocked (update)

MIKALJUNG: Five persons have gone missing in Panchthar as a result of the flooding caused by the persistent rain since the previous night.
Dilkumar Tamang of Hillihang-7 and Sanjog Lowa of Phidim-10, both working on the Hewa-1 hydropower project, are missing, as are Aashish and Elisa Majhi, who had a bottle shop in Phidim-4 Majhitar, and one person from Phidim-4 Hewakhola.

The rain has also washed out the Hewakhola bridge on the Mechi highway, which connects Phidim Municipality-4 and Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 in Panchthar District.
The Mechi highway was entirely shut when the bridge was swept away, according to Hari Khatiwada, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Panchthar.
The ‘Bailey Bridge’ of the Tamor Corridor has been swept away. Locals said that residences in Yangwarak Rural Municipalities 3 and 2 had been swept away.
District Police Office Panchthar informed that a motorable bridge was washed away in Phalelung Rural Municipality-3 Macchebung.
