Prachanda summons an emergency Council of Ministers meeting

KATHMANDU:The Council of Ministers is holding an emergency meeting.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has scheduled a Cabinet meeting for after 9 a.m. at the Prime Minister’s office and the Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

It is reported that plans are being made to designate the chief secretary at the meeting.

Shankardas Bairagi, the present chief secretary, will be dispatched as an ambassador, while Dr. Baikunth Aryal, who works in the Prime Minister’s office and the Council of Ministers, would be named chief secretary.

Aryal is the most senior of Nepal’s 72 secretaries. If he is not appointed as chief secretary, he will be forced to retire on Ashar 3 (June 18) after serving his 5-year term as secretary.
