KATHMANDU: Tansen in Palpa recently hosted the first Colonel Ujirsingh Palpa Gold Cup.
Tansen, Tudikhel’s sole playground, hosted the Gold Cup.
The 12 teams in the Gold Cup competition were split into two groups. After nearly 33 years, a national level football competition was conducted in Palpa.
Palpa, renowned for the ‘Manimukund Cup’ and ‘Karuwa Cup,’ did not hold a national level football event until 2047.
Palpa District Football Association established the ‘Palpa Gold Cup 2080’ in remembrance of Colonel Ujirsinh Thapa, the then-administrator of Palpa.

The appearance of the empty Tudikhel field has changed as a result of this match, which was held after a long time.
People gathered to watch the Gold Cup final on Jestha 27 (June 10).
Locals claim that the gathering was noticed considerably later. The final was seen by approximately 4-5 thousand people.
The competition, which began on Jestha 12 (May 26), culminated on Jestha 27 (June 10) with a match between Central College Roads Chitwan and Horizon Football Club Walling Syangja, with Chitwan winning the title.
